We've also supplied the cabin with luxurious details such as cozy blankets, a great library, and lavender bath salts. When planning your trip, consider the time of year, and plan accordingly. What To Pack

In addition to the normal items like clothes and toiletries, here is a list of some items you may not think of:

Our cabin uses well water, and has a tendency to have a high iron content. We do have an iron filter in place, which takes care of it for the most part, but it does sometimes look a little discolored after heavy rain. The water from the fridge is additionally filtered and safe to drink, but it sometimes has a slight metallic taste.

    What's Included

MOUNTAINAIRE is a fully stocked Cabin. We have made every effort to provide all the basics, including:

    Groceries

Please keep in mind that we are in rural West Virginia, so local grocery stores will not have the selections you may be accustomed to, so please plan ahead. The nearest quick stop is about 15 minutes from the cabin, a place where you can pick up some basics, like ice, water, soda, beer and a very small selection of basic groceries. The nearest full grocery store is about 45 minutes away.

Snow & Ice in the Winter Months

Please be advised that we are located in a fairly remote area, and even the state roads are not always plowed and salted immediately. We strongly recommend 4WD vehicles when inclement weather is likely. The last mile is a well maintained gravel road, and during regular weather conditions, non-4WD vehicles have no issues with access, however, when there is ice or snow, access can be challenging. We do have a "snow plowing" service that plows when we get more than 4" of snow.

    Protecting your trip

In these uncertain times, for your added protection and peace of mind, you may wish to consider purchasing travel insurance.

Here is a Forbes Magazine quick quote interface of highly rated travel insurance providers:

We have never used any of these companies personally, and do not specifically recommend any of them over the others, as each one provides different protection limits for similar services. We provide this list simply as a convenience to you. Please do your own due diligence in picking the right travel insurance company for you. If you choose to purchase travel protection, this is a transaction outside of our website, and will be strictly between you and the insurance provider. MOUNTAINAIRE does not financially benefit from you purchasing travel insurance.
